Jose Trevino’s Single in the Bottom of the Ninth Puts the Finishing Touches on Rangers Comeback on a Memorable Fathers day.

Jose Trevino has had one of the best weeks in sports. He welcomed his first son Josiah Cruz into the world one week ago and made his major debut on Friday. He made his first start on Saturday to go along with his hit and RBI. On Sunday the Texas Rangers and Jose Trevino had a memorable comeback victory over the Colorado Rockies 13-12.

After the Texas Rangers trailed early 5-1 and 12-9 in the bottom of the 9th. It wasn’t looking good for the Texas Rangers when All-Star closer Wade Davis is called to the mound to finish the game for the Rockies. However, Davis struggled to throw strikes and loaded the bases with one out. So, with one out and Jose Trevino coming to the plate, something special was brewing in Arlington.

Along with Jose Trevino’s exciting week in baseball this Fathers day was special for him for another reason. Jose’s Father passed away in 2014, the year Jose was drafted out of Oral Roberts University. Unfortunately, his father never got the opportunity to watch his son play professionally and while he couldn’t be there physically, Jose knew he was there to help him in that last at-bat.

With a full count and the bases loaded Jose Trevino got a fastball up and in that fooled him. Somehow he muscled the pitch over the shortstop’s head and in front of the incoming left fielder. The first run scored easily and game winning run scored on a close play at the plate. The Texas Rangers had completed the comeback 13-12 and celebrated around first base where Jose Trevino ended up after his game winning hit.

After the game, Jose Trevino’s interview sparked emotions from all fans of baseball. While celebrating his first fathers day as a father himself and remembering his late father’s memory. It truly was a memorable day for all at the ballpark.
